DevFestAI

I have an associate of arts in Networking and a bachelor of science degree in Network Security, but I found a lot of side jobs in web/software development that I really enjoyed. Now, I'm a full-stack software/web developer with strong proficiency in Javascript and the PERN stack. I'm having fun working on a side project at the moment, but am open to new opportunities. I'm here for learning, sharing resources, and being a part of the developer community. I'm going to share what I'm working on, my resources, and what I'm learning here. What are you working on?
I know I posted a lot about projects to be worked on at the beginning of my Hacktoberfest 2024 blog series, but they’ve been related to the sponsors of Hacktoberfest. They are keeping their promises to promote open-source with many opportunities to contribute. In the Discord server today, they had a live presentation (which I unfortunately missed, but found details about it in the link anyway) about DevFest AI. CoPilot is one of the sponsors this year, and this event is presented in CoPilot’s discord server.
It takes you to their page of bonuses when you register for their event that you can claim after you complete their easy task list. You can register here https://devfest.ai/friend/cm1vrsp4v000kaebgg8eg34d2. I only get credit for up to 5, but I think it’s a great learning opportunity and has opportunities to find more open-source contributions for Hacktoberfest, so I’m sharing it with you here.
Once you’ve registered, it offers a bunch of bonuses. After completing the bonuses, you can go to the “repositories to contribute” menu option which gives you a long list of repositories where you can contribute to their projects, including CoPilotKit, Hugging Face, and other AI-related repositories.
Once you register (using your GitHub account), you join or get assigned a random squad to contribute code to something on that list or AI repositories. The squad can be up to 5 members, if you can’t find all five, you can “allow random people to join” your squad. A score is calculated every hour, based on “every squad member MERGED PR for AI repositories and sum them all together. By the end of the event, the top 20 squads will win awesome swag.” All PRs are counted towards your Hacktoberfest PRs.
I’ve registered already. If you are interested in AI projects, you might find this event fun to join. I am also interested in this one because part of my Hacktoberfest goal is to be more active in the open-source community. This event makes you work with others, learn, and develop your skill set. Hope to see you there.
